Quanzhou Evening News: It is learned from the Quanzhou Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau that since 2016, our city has accelerated the construction of agricultural products cold chain infrastructure. In the past five years, the city has built a total of nearly 30,000 cubic meters of cold storage, which can store fresh vegetables and other agricultural products with a storage capacity of 30,000. To realize the timely pre-cooling of fresh and live agricultural products after harvest, and make up for the shortcomings of the "last mile" facility of agricultural cold chain logistics.

In terms of policy support for cold chain projects, the city has arranged special funds to support the construction of agricultural cold chain projects. For newly-built and qualified cold storage with a capacity of 100 cubic meters or more, a subsidy of 20,000 yuan per 100 cubic meters will be provided, and the subsidy fund of each unit shall not exceed 200,000 yuan. The cold storage that uses old factory buildings or residential buildings will be subsidized at 50% of the subsidy standard for new projects. Over the past five years, the city has invested a total of 5.53 million yuan in support of agricultural cold chain projects.

In terms of the extension of the industrial chain, for the city’s vegetable, fruit, edible fungus and other industries with nearly 70,000 acres of facility greenhouses, the city encourages agricultural producers and operators to build cold storage facilities in the production base to ensure the pre-cooling of fresh agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, and edible fungi. With the low temperature of the whole process, the cold chain of various agricultural industries can be seamlessly connected. The supporting construction of cold chain facilities complements the shortcomings of the city's fresh vegetable industry chain. As the largest carrot production base in our city, Jinjiang has more than 70,000 acres of carrot-based vegetable production bases, and currently has 25,000 cubic meters of cold chain facilities. Hui'an Shengfeng Agriculture Co., Ltd. has an annual output of 4,000 tons of various vegetables. The company has built a cold storage of 3,500 cubic meters with a storage capacity of 2,000 tons.

   After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, some local agricultural products in our city have been unsalable, and the cold chain facilities of the agricultural wholesale markets and production bases in various regions have played an important role. In the first half of this year, the city’s five major agricultural product wholesale markets, including grain, vegetables, fruits, tea, and aquatic products, had a transaction volume of 570,000 tons of agricultural products and a storage capacity of 125,000 tons of agricultural products.
