Standard Operating Procedure
PolarBox VPU-586 with PCM+5
PolarBox was designed for the Medical and Food industries to provide critical protection and thermal stability over a wide range of ambient temperatures.
Liquids, products or objects that may leak liquids, unless packaged in liquid tight packaging cannot be carried. PolarBox can be used as primary cold chain packaging for Category B, Biological Materials, with secondary packaging complying with UN3373.
1. Procedure (Hot Ambient above + +5oC )
1) Set the refrigerator at +2oC or lower
2) Charge the PCM Bricks for 24 hrs. minimum. The Bricks must be completely solid before use.
3) Remove the PCM Bricks, check that the surface temperature is between 0oC and +2oC.
4) Place the PCM Bricks into the PolarBox, then close the lid.
5) When the temperature inside is between 2oC and 5oC, pack out the PolarBox.
6) Put the temperature and humidity monitor cable between two PCM Bricks. Place the sensor at the centre of the Polarbox. Check that the sensor is at least 75mm from any PCM Brick.
7) Place the top PCM Brick in position. Close the lid and draw the zip fastener closed.
8) Check the monitor is operating correctly.
2. Procedure (Cold Ambient below +5oC )
1). Place the PCM Bricks in a single layer flat on trays at room temperature (approx. 18oC),
sufficiently spaced for air flow over the surface of the PCM Bricks.
2) Charge the PCM Bricks for 24 hrs. minimum. The Bricks must be completely liquid before use.
3) Place the PCM Bricks into the PolarBox
4)Pack out the PolarBox
5)Put the temperature and humidity monitor cable between two PCM Bricks. Place the sensor at the centre of the Polarbox. Check that the sensor is at least 75mm from any PCM Brick.
6)Place the top PCM Brick in position. Close the lid and draw the zip fastener closed.
7) Check the monitor is operating correctly.
